Janek and Bolek cross the border and reach Radzymin – Bolek’s hometown, where his wife and two-year-old son are waiting for him. Helena reports to the City Hall, where Kazimierz holds a high position. The latter hands her a nomination for a state official and reiterates her request to contact Wanda. Michał visits Celina and reproaches her for working in the red publishing house. Celina defends herself by saying that she primarily serves good literature. Ruda plans to leave the country with her associate Ernest. She lost faith in the sense of her previous activities. On a street in Warsaw, Karol notices a poster called „Ślubów maidenskich” with the name of Wanda on it. He starts following his ex-wife. Janek finally reaches Warsaw. He searches for information about Lena on the Praga wall and finds a card from Romek. Meanwhile, Rainer in a POW camp reveals information about a buried archive in an American-controlled zone. The Soviets take Rainer and set off for the checkpoint. Janek finds Romek, he says that both the child and Lena are dead, they both died during the Warsaw Uprising.
