July 1962. Christine Beauval, star announcer of the RTF, is a fulfilled woman who leads her life as a wife and mother, as well as an ambitious professional career. But, in the spotlight, just as she is due to speak, her body suddenly rocks, bloody. A few days earlier, her husband Pierre was appointed Mondovision manager by his friend Éric Jauffret, Minister of Information. This event should revolutionize telecommunications, thanks to a satellite link between France and the United States. The promotion of Pierre Beauval will completely upset the family. Darnet, the director of the RTF, does not take offense because he wanted this post; he takes revenge on Christine Beauval by refusing her to produce a new women’s magazine. To Christine, who reproaches him for putting his professional ambitions before his own, Pierre retorts that she must above all assume her duties as mother and wife … They are both unaware that their 17-year-old daughter, Colette, is having an affair. with Jauffret. The latter gets dragged by her best friend Marylou to a party, which turns out to be a fine game. The next day, Marylou’s body is found on a vacant lot: she was raped before being murdered.
