Eight years later, Roxane finds freedom and has only one obsession: to prove her innocence to find her daughter. She is helped in her reintegration by Dany, her former cousin. Alexis has made a new life with Roxane’s best friend, Inès Ortiz, daughter of François Ortiz, who owns a company with international stature. Alma does not want to see her mother again. She does not forgive him for cutting ties in prison.
For his part, Lieutenant Combas, cured, has returned to his position and now works under the orders of Maupin, his former companion, with whom relations are more than tense. He accidentally crosses Roxane in court, and she vigorously reaffirms her innocence. Eight years earlier, at the height of his illness, he had already expressed doubts. He decides to go back into the elements of the file. One night, staying late to study them, he gets closer to Maupin, still in love with him, even though she has had a new life and a child. Roxane begins her investigation and interviews Guy Marchepied, her former colleague, a prosecution witness at the trial. Under threat, he admits he lied and claims to have been manipulated by the art dealers for whom he works. They would have trapped Roxane for fear that it will expose their traffic.
Everything is complicated when Roxane understands that the traffickers seem to be linked to the Ortiz where Alexis and Alma have lived for years …
