After Harry’s gramophone records are removed from the stores, he plays in Elsie’s bar. When the venue is stormed by Nazis, Elsie is kidnapped. Arthur and Alice must hand over the department store to the SA. In his farewell, Arthur gives a moving speech to his co-workers. He has not been able to keep the original promise, to give the staff a home in the department store. The Grünberg family decides to leave for New York, to build a new life there. After Alice says goodbye to Goldmann, Goldmann changes his plans and makes a drastic decision.
